Tofu Veggie Burger Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 pound firm tofu, drained and mashed
1 onion, diced
2 tbsp wheat germ
2 tbsp flour
2 tbsp soy sauce
dash of salt and pepper, to taste
oil for frying
Preparation:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl, except oil. Form into patties. Fry in oil over medium high heat until the patties are brown and crisp.
Vegan Black Bean Burgers
Ingredients:
1/2 onion, diced
1 can black beans
1/2 cup flour
2 slices bread, crumbled
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
salt and pepper to taste
oil for frying
Preparation:
Sauté the onions till soft, about 3-5 minutes.
In a large bowl, mash the beans until almost smooth. Add sautéed onions and the rest of the ingredients, except the oil, adding the flour a few tablespoons at a time to combine well. Mixture will be thick. Form bean mixture into patties, approximately ½ inch thick and fry veggie patties in a small amount of oil until slightly firm.
Vegetarian Kidney Beans and Mushroom Veggie Burgers Recipe (contains egg)
Ingredients:
1 medium carrot
1/2 cup oats
1 - 14 ounce can kidney beans, drained
1/2 cup mushrooms
1/2 onion
1 medium carrot
1/2 red or yellow bell pepper
1 egg
2 tbsp ketchup
1/2 tsp garlic salt
Preparation:
Process carrot in food processor until grated. Add oats and beans and pulse a few times.
Add remaining ingredients and process until well combined but still slightly coarse.
Chill for at least 45 minutes then form into 4 - 6 patties. Broil for 5-6 minutes on each side. You can cook the veggie burgers on the grill, or pan fry in oil.
